In the last couple of post i started to add some dates which i should explain. There was a Nissan Primera Owners club meet starting the 30th August 2018 untill the 2nd of September. Now the GT was back home and hope i could attend the meet on the 1st of september.
Wednesday 29th,
During work i wrote down a quick list of what i still had to do on the GT if i was to make Meet
Fit door rubbing strips
seal sills and fit side skirts
fit spot lamps
fit all door cards
fit mirrors
service rear brakes (new just before it went into original body shop) but i could tell they needed a good clean sort front brakes (needed a good clean)
fit grills fit badges
Investigate central locking issue and no battery lamp.
de body shop the entire car (clean inside)
sadly this is where the pictures get a little sparce.
by the end of Wednesday night i had investigated the issues with the central locking, blown fuse and a reprogram sorted both fobs, I had fixed the threads on the last handle and fitted. I also new by this point the alternator had failed had removed it and replaced the diods with a spare set but sadly still fubar. Gutted i packed up and went in the house. it was getting dark anyway.
My spare alternator has the wrong connection.
Thursday 30th August.
While at work i searched for a replacement alternator which i found a new old stock for £65 delivered, After a conversation with the seller it shipped that morning with next day delivery.
On the way home from work i stopped off at brother-in-laws work (Angelwax) to pickup some chemicals to aid with the cleanup operation.
That night i finished of refitting the side skirts and door trims. decided to refit the original mirrors rather than spending time converting to the JDM ones (will happen soon). emptied the car and started the clean up. hover first then onto An-Gel then Heavenly sent. the results well i’ll let the pictures do the talking
Friday 31st August I had a few meetings for work so conducted them from home waiting on the alternator which did arrive back of 3 in the afternoon. Usually on aFriday i finish early (or try too) but i had a 2pm meeting which can run on. but the meeting was cancelled at the last minute meaning i finsihed at 2.30 and not a micro second more. Alternator was refitted, and for anyone thats has an aftermarket head will know you need to strip quite a bit off the car to get the alternator out which all has to go back. fired up the GT ran some checks and it all checked out. i the removed the battery and set about sorting the nasty engine bay. again using some AngleWax product (concentrated cleaner)
Next the interior
The Nissan primera owners club trip all rested on 3 tasks.
The new Alternator being in the hands of a courier company. I booked the MOT for saturday morning 1st September. Refit the spoiler (still at body shop) also booked for saturday.
The last peice of the puzzle a new old stock set of GT grills and wheel refurb.
Saturday the 1st,
MOT time, i took the car to the MOT station which is less than a 100 yards 45 minutes later the car passed with flying colours. The round to the body shop and i refitted the spoiler adding a little seal to prevent it rubbing the paint on the boot lid which causes it to rust.
Back home and grabbed my go bag and headed for the NPOC (Nissan Primera owners club meet).
Had a fantastic time and the car was well received.
I hope you enjoyed the body work journey? You never know you may see the Phoenix on the road.
