Tuesday the 27th August, the day has finally come to bring Phoenix my 1998 Primera GT home. Tis didn’t come with out a couple of issues and possibly disaster.
I arrived at the body shop after work and got to work. The first dissaster was the section of the door that runs by the window reacted. So some vinyl was trimmed and cut and fitted like it was at the factory. This wasn’t really what i wanted but it would do for now. I fitted the front and rear bumpers. Taped the rear number plate in vew on the rear window.
I carefully places the side skirts inside the car and secured the other bits. There was still plenty to be fitted back on the car but Max needed the space.
Disaster number 2. I moved car from unit and made my way home (driving it yes) got round the corner over the first speed bump and all the dash light up like a xmas tree. That’s odd i thought but pressed on. Next speed bump same thing but this time total loss of power. Pulled the car into a bay where she dies and wouldn’t restart due to flat battery.
I phone Nicky to bring the spare battery from the garage warning her it was heavy and to take care. No sooner had i hung up the phone a police car appeared which slowed to a crawl probably looking for the number plate which was taped to the rear window.
Thankfully they drove off and Nicky appeared with the new battery saying she just seen a police car. I fitted battery and the GT fired up no issues I then followed Nicky back to the house (no front number plate).
Turning into the leading street to our street i glance right into a residential carpark only to see the same police car which came out the junction and followed me right to my house.
thankfully they only drove into the estate and back out never to be seen again. That was quite enough excitement for one day and it was getting dark
but at least after nearly 3 years the GT was home again.
