This work was carried out a number of years ago (2013) but car still lives on with me. Let me take you on a little journey into the story of my 1998 Primera GT’s
After finding some major rust on my silver GT which i could have repaired but i decided to try and find a rust free shell. I found this and a good friend that lived close went and checked it out for me. The main body was rust free but some on the panels which i wasn’t worried about. The interior was not in the best condition and mechanicals needed a look at both I wasn’t concerned about.
I closed the deal with the owner, got on the train and collected it. The GT drove home fault less but didn’t feel as good as the silver GT and certainly wasn’t as quick.
Well that I can fix.
I used the GT for a few days then one day i got home from work stopped across the road to reverse into the driveway but i could select any gear and the clutch pedal went spongy. The car had a new clutch fitted not long before i collected it. But the pedal feels like the release bearing housing has rotated so the fork was no longer engaging. The car was pushed onto driveway not as easy as it sounds but i had some help thankfully.
So this is where all the fun begins and the silver GT donor job begins earlier than planned.
